ARCHITECT FERNANDO MENIS LAUNCHES LECTURE IN ASIA AND AMERICA
In April and May he will explain his creative process in the cities of Hong Kong (China ), Dubai (UAE) and Bogota (Colombia).
The Canarian architect Fernando Menis, commencing in April will give a series of conferences in Asia and America, where he will explain his creative process in the cities of Hong Kong (China ), Dubai (UAE) and Bogota (Colombia). In his talks, will release some of the main elements of his work, through the Multifunctional Concert Hall «Jordanki» in Torun project (Poland), which won first prize in the competition held by the city of this European city competition and it highlights their ability to fuse tradition with modernity in the vicinity of a historical district.
With the title Evolutions, Torun Case Study, Menis will begin this series of lectures, on 17 April, in the Department of Architecture of the University of Hong Kong. Menis will explain to college students how, in his work, two references converge in the understanding of the evolution of both his architecture and his own creative process, «the passion for manual labor, which pervades every object, and spirit of the place to which it belongs».
For his part, and by May the 4th, the Canarian architect will give the Evolutions conference, Multifunctional Concert Hall «Jordanki» in Torun at the American University of Sharjah, in the city of Dubai. Finally, on May 13, Menis will travel to America to participate in 360th forum in the Colombian city of Bogotá, an important meeting of professionals in the field of architecture and construction, organized by the Cement Argos, with the support of Colombian Association of Concrete Producers.
Reason and emotion

For the interior brick, a material with a strong presence in the facades of the historic center of this city of Poland, while for the exterior, he opted for the clear concrete, almost white, which suggests the interior was chosen to most mode rips.

En abril y mayo, explicará su proceso creativo en las ciudades de Hong Kong (China), Dubai (Emiratos Árabes) y Bogotá (Colombia).
El arquitecto canario Fernando Menis iniciará, en el mes de abril, un ciclo de conferencias en Asia y América, que lo llevarán a explicar su proceso creativo en las ciudades de Hong Kong (China), Dubai (Emiratos Árabes) y Bogotá (Colombia). En sus charlas, dará a conocer algunos de los elementos principales de sus obras, a través del proyecto del Multifunctional Jordanki, en Torun (Polonia), que obtuvo el primer premio en el concurso convocado por el Ayuntamiento de esta ciudad europea y que destaca por su capacidad para fundir la tradición con la modernidad en el entorno de un casco histórico.
Con el título Evolutions, Torun Study Case, Menis comenzará esta serie de conferencias, el próximo 17 de abril, en el Department of Architecture de la Universidad de Hong Kong. Menis explicará a los estudiantes universitarios cómo, en su obra, confluyen dos referencias a la hora de entender la evolución tanto de su estudio de arquitectura como de su propio proceso creativo: “la pasión por la labor manual, que impregna cada objeto, y el espíritu del lugar al que pertenece”.
Por su parte, y ya en el mes de mayo, el día 4, el arquitecto canario impartirá la conferencia Evolutions, Multifunctional Concert Hall Jordanki, en la American University of Sharjah, en la ciudad de Dubai. Por último, el 13 de mayo, Menis viajará al continente americano para participar en el Foro 360o en la ciudad colombiana de Bogotá, un importante encuentro de profesionales del sector de la arquitectura y la construcción, organizado por la Cementera Argos, con el apoyo de la Asociación Colombiana de Productores de Concreto.
Razón y emoción
El arquitecto canario Fernando Menis utiliza, en su proceso creativo, maquetas, que realiza de manera artesanal, a la hora de iniciar cada proyecto. Tal como explica el propio Fernando Menis, “moldear cada objeto nos ayuda a descubrir una arquitectura más libre y artística”. Otra de sus ventajas es que permite confrontar el objeto con la tecnología. Añade Menis que “el sentido común tratando con las materias primas y su verdadero potencial es el contexto donde es insertado, es el marco donde razón y emoción son combinados”.
En el caso concreto del Multifunctional Concert Hall Jordanki, en Torun, Menis Arquitectos solucionó fusionó los conceptos de tradicional y desarrollo, mediante los materiales escogidos. Para el interior se eligió el ladrillo, un material con gran presencia en las fachadas del centro histórico de esta ciudad de Polonia, mientras que, para el exterior, se decantaron por el hormigón muy claro, casi blanco, que deja entrever el interior, a modo casi de rasgaduras.
